Kid's Classics: The East Side Kids/Lassie: The Painted Hills...2 Pack Includes: 'The East Side Kids' and 'Lassie: The Painted Hills' 'The East Side Kids' - Former 'Dead End Kid' Huntz Hall made is first appearance with the 'East Side Kids' in 1941's 'Bowery Blitzkrieg.' The plotline concentrates on Danny Breslin (Bobby Jordan), good kid in danger of going bad thanks to the influence of two-bit crook Monk Martin (Bobby Stone). When Danny is disqualified from the upcoming Golden Gloves boxing championship, his pal Mugs (Leo Gorcey) takes his place. Thanks to the chicanery of Monk and his gambling cronies, the public becomes convinced that Mugs intends to through the fight. Nothing could be further from the truth, but for while it looks as though both Mugs and Danny will be kayoed permanently by the villains. As 'Limpy,' 'Huntz Hall' doesn't have much to do except act as Mugs' dimwitted stooge; Hall's unique comic gifts wouldn't fully blossom until the next 'East Side Kids' entry, 'Spooks Run Wild.' 'Lassie: The Painted Hills' - After years of prospecting, Jonathan finally strikes gold. He returns to town only to discover that his partner has since died and left Tommy fatherless. He decides to leave Shep (played by Lassie) with Tommy to cheer him up. Meanwhile, Jonathan's new partner, Lin, isn't interested in sharing the gold, and lures Jonathan to his death. Lassie immediately deduces what's happened, so Lin poisons Lassie. Lassie barely pulls through and pursues Lin to a climactic confrontation.... Click here or on the image for details |
